Why Pray?

Prayer is the communication bridge between ourselves and G-d. Just like when we need something from another person, we ask them, so too with the Almighty, we should just ask. When something is really important, in addition to asking our selves, we enlist others to speak on our behalf. Now, you can have Rabbi Wyne plead your cause to the Almighty with you.

Doesn't G-d already know what we need? Is it even wise to try and "convince" G-d to give us what we want? What changes through prayer is not the "mind" of the Almighty. What changes through prayer is us. By recognizing that G-d is the source of all of our blessings and challenges, we bring ourselves to a higher spiritual level. Through this elevation, we grow as people and become more "fitting" to receive the things we've prayed for. Now we can use our gifts more properly to perfect ourselves and the world around us. What should we pray for?

EVERYTHING! There is nothing too big or too insignificant to pray for. G-d wants us to call out to him. It is never a bother for the Almighty to listen to His children's desires, wants, and needs. He wants to bestow blessings upon us. Prayer helps us recognize where they are coming from.

Judaism teaches that there are three things that can change the course of a person's life -Repentance -correcting your mistakes between you and the Almighty, and between you and your fellow man.

Prayer - Praising G-d, asking G-d for His help and thanking Him. Giving of money to charity - This helps us be real that everything we have, really belongs to G-d and He has given it to us to use properly.
